LangdonA's News

Posted by LangdonA - November 5th, 2017

Hello again, people! :)

After a week since our latest update (0.1.3), I kept mostly "silent", but I'd like to share with you all what I've been working lately:

1. Rebecca

6592572_150993305683_Afl4zvE.png
It's not a secret that Rebecca's 3D model has been pretty criticized. :( And I honestly understand these critics. Even though I really enjoy her previous visuals and it reminds me of the style contrast in games like Leisure Suit Larry, I agree that it's weird to see her interacting with more realistic styled NPCs. For this reason, today I'm here to show the new Rebecca White! As soon as 0.1.4 is released, I'll update the game's promo pictures.

2. Belview Beach!

6592572_150993305463_aY4NqVF.png
Do you want to check on hot people sunbathing on the hot sand? Do you want to get some seashells? Do you want to finish the "Sun-Tan" Side-Mission? Do you want to open your own adult movies studio?
All of this (and much more) will be possible in Belview Beach. A fun place to have a drink and meet new people after enjoying a day at the beach!

3. Getting Used to the Workflow
Being honest, rendering 3D models sucks. It takes a lot of time and I can't even work on the game while my PC is rendering a simple scene. Don't worry, I won't make a new Patreon goal begging you people to buy me a VGA like if that was your responsibility. I talk on Discord to some people who have Patreon projects and it's always the same: "After hitting the $$$$ goal, I'll buy a VGA to render more stuff!". The next day, the message on his Discord: "Scammer is playing a heavy game".
Nah, not that bulshit. I just want to tell you all that I'm having an organized workflow that consists of 4 daily hours dedicated to the game and when I go to sleep, I add a new queue of scenes to render (of course, I'm not counting my daily work as a Designer). Hopefully, this will allow me to keep my desired amount of new content, devlogs, and updates. :)

4. Changelog
It's cool to keep developing and taking notes of what exactly is changed in the project. I'd like to share a quick preview to the next changelog:
## [0.1.4] - 2017-11-??
### Added
- Added NPCs to the H&S Department
- New NPC interactions in La Gloria
- New City: Belview Beach (+ Bar, Hotel...)
- New Mission: Mission #3 - Supernova
- New Crafting Items: Seashell, Seastar
- Side-Mission Sun-Tan: Completed

### Fixed
- NPCs on the H&S Department (La Gloria) are properly named.
- Some color codes were returning the codes themselves instead of the colored texts (thanks, EroPharaoh!).
- Bug in Player's movement in the Le Jeet Studio (thanks, myuinny!).
- Some NPCs were animated for no reason, in iCafe. Weird.
- Bug on the first personal conversation with Mr. Formaggio.

### Changed
- Reduced a lot the file size.
- Locations' names moved right. It was often covered by the HUD.
- Beer Pilsen costs $6, now, so you can get it sooner and take it to Mr. Formaggio.

### Removed
- Bye bye, Calendar System. Checking the day of the week was buggy and added nothing to gameplay, so it's gone.

As you can see, there will be this new place called Belview Beach, but don't forget La Gloria and its Health & Security department. Don't forget the creepy girl in Valentino and that abandoned house. Don't forget the Weir... I mean, Perfectly Normal Doggo. :X
Many people suggested the removal of the Calendar System and even of the Clock System. The second one will be used in plenty of Side-Missions (in creative ways, I promise), but yeah, the calendar wouldn't add much to the gameplay.

I hope you enjoy it, people! I'll keep working to bring the next update (0.1.4) asap!

Hey, everyone! As promised, here's the latest version of Risqué Vice: 0.1.3. You can check the full changelog at the link in the end of this post, but here I'd like to highlight some of the major things that were added, changed and fixed in the game.

01. A More Fast-Paced Experience
Many players complained about the speed of the cutscenes. While I was playtesting it, I saw the same scenes lots of times, what caused me the feeling that it was fast enough. Another reason for the slow-paced dialogues is the amount of handicraft pauses to capture better the "feeling" of the dialogues.
Bulshit! Many players just want to have some fun in a short amount of time. :D To please both styles of players, there's a new Option in the Options Menu: "Quick Text". When it's on, each message is filled automatically and you don't have to wait until each sentence is written.

02. Vocal Reactions
You can often listen how Rebecca reacts when she's happy, surprised, angry, etc. It doesn't mean that the game will feature full voice-acting. For a while, Becca only says ~100 words, but in the next version, there will be more (and more character will have Vocal Reactions too!).

03. More Missions
In 0.1.3, we're finishing the second mission and starting the third one. But there's also one complete side-mission ('I Touch Myself') and the start of two other ones ('Sun-Tan' and 'Down the Road, Not Across the Street'). Both of them will be complete in the next update.

04. The PC
One big thing in 0.1.3 is the new "PC" feature. You get access to it in the second story-mission, but it will be available through the whole game. In the next versions, I'll be working to add mini-games. Depending on your score on them, the player will receive rare blueprints that can be taken to the artisan! :)
Not only that, but it will be a social HUB for characters and will help Becca to keep track of her achievements, both social and professional.
The XMovies background is a placeholder, don't worry. :D The PC will play a big role in the game.

05. The Bike
Thinking about how to make the game quicker (if the player wants so), I was thinking about the Bike mechanics. If you manage to buy the bike in 0.1.3, you can press "B" and Becca will ride her bike. I still need to mess with the character's speed code to properly add acceleration and so, but if you want to see Becca riding a bike, go for it! :P

06. New Collectables
While taking a stroll at La Gloria or Valentino, keep your eyes looking at the ground. You may find cash, blueprints, and materials, now. Oh, and a key-item for a side-mission will be on the ground! ;)

07. Fixes
Most of the previous version's bugs were fixed, such as spelling mistakes, weird acting NPCs, wrong tiles positioning, etc.

Patrons,
thank you very much. We're still only a few, but keep in mind that you're all responsible for the start of this project. Without you, the past week would've been much more stressful, harder and we wouldn't be achieved the amount of new content that we did.
Please, feel free to send me messages on Patreon if you have anything to say about the game, or even just to say "hi". At the end of each monthly cycle, I'll make a post explaining exactly where your money is going. I owe you that.

About the Future
With Risqué Vice, I'm doing my best to create a fun game with a creative world, interesting gameplay, natural dialogues and inspiring quests, but I also want to make it ~sexy~. It's an adult game, after all.
Until 0.2.0, I'll keep the focus on the game's basis. I want to make a solid experience, unlike many adult RPG Maker games we see around. I appreciate the support of you all, Patrons, GameJolt community and people who comment our topics in many forums. Because of this, I'd like to share with you my plans for the future:

Before version 0.2.0 there are some things that will certainly be done:
1. Rebecca's design will be 100% complete. Her design will be more realistic, but her physical attributes will keep the same. I'll be making tests and asking for your help to decide which visual is the best for our protagonist.
2. The three first towns will be working perfectly. No more doors saying "come back in the next version". There will be people, cars, stores, houses, collectibles. Everything will be there.
3. I have the whole Risqué Vice story written in ~100 pages. I'm methodical, perfectionist and I love to write, so I have lots of Side-Missions in mind. You can expect a very dynamic gameplay with puzzles, action sections, and even stealth ones!
4. The current major characters (Connor, Mr. Formaggio, Goth Girl, Trisha...) will all have Vocal Reactions.
5. Most of the NPCs (at least the main ones and the ones who are responsible for Side-Missions) will have Bust Images.
6. At least a couple of minigames on the PC.

What will define the release of 0.2.0?
> Before that, I have to finish the list above. Then I'll work on the Risqué Vice Mechanic. Again, I don't want to spoil any surprises, but that's when sex will have a major role in the game. That's where you'll use your bought/crafted items such as decorations, clothes (and even characters). Oh, and of course, that's where many of the sex scenes will happen.

Again, thank you very much for your support, don't hesitate to ask for help or share your opinions. I'll do my best to answer them all.
One very important thing that some people asked me about is about the game's price.
The game will happen and will always be free. Patrons help me a LOT to speed up the process, but even though we have only a few, yet: the game will definitely happen.
Please, have fun! :)
